yeah

It's been 15 months since I've updated this thing. Membox was a sweet idea, but like all sweet ideas I have lasted a good six months before fading into obscurity. I mostly blog at the old Myspace these days. Even that's about a month stale.

membox 12: let me see your biscuits

This last week was too awesome for words. See other blogs.

Part of the fun has been the strengthening bond between my excellent bandmates and I. They are good-hearted folk for sure. Here's one of the smaller flyers for our first show (with me as a member) two weeks ago. We played with our friend Dylan and the excellent Paper Airplanes, from Wichita.

Here's one of the bigger items in my mem-box. My first nameplate, which I was able to take with me from UGA when I left. It's nice to have an office and a nameplate and feel important. I don't have a nameplate at UNT yet. Curses! (PS is hiding my full name really necessary in this day and age?)

Lastly, when I went home for Christmas, I had the privledge of going to my favorite (still surviving) bar in Ann Arbor, none other than Ashley's Pub. I snagged a coaster while hanging out with my best high school friends and having a freaking blast.

membox 11: rise!

There's a big old stupid box of crap that the cat keep scratching at in the corner of my bedroom. MEMBOX I AM SO BAD TO YOU. WHEN WILL WE BE FRIENDS AGAIN?

After the most traumatic relationship of my life ended in January 2k4, I embarked upon a series of near-misses with many ladies. One of them was dear KJ, with whom I was not meant to be, because we were both egomaniacal spazzes in completely non-concentric ways. Her and I remained good friends afterwards, and when I defended my dissertation, she gave me this wonderful card. She has a way with words. I didn't know until I took pictures of it that there are little reflective equations and benzene rings on the front of the card.

Next up is my cousin's wedding programme. My first real ski trip... I lucked into an all-expenses paid trip to Vail, CO with my siblings. I wish this memory came with some of the hilarious and badass pictures of me and my family skiing, but alas, those are all in some god-forsaken box in Michigan. Ah well... ah hell...

Next up is Christa's flyer for the first Iron Hero show. It was a great first show for them, but it was a little bittersweet, because I knew it was the beginning of the end for Reading. I also seem to recall switching Adderall dosage for the first time that week. I remember being really loooooopy and having some surreal conversation with Luke. whoa. I tried to have a good time tho.

wipe off the cobwebs.

The last two months have been a bit hectic. I've wrapped up my first UNT research project, and am now in the process of following up on this manuscript, which now requires me to be juggling 3 projects at the same time. I'm still the principle investigator of two of them, so my mind is bent into too many directions.

I've settled into playing with an incredibly talented group of people. Our band is called Sarah Reddington. We played our first show last weekend to very high praise, and next week we will be opening up for critical darlings Akron/Family. When I last updated this blog, Akron/Family was playing Italy, and next Thursday, they will play at a jazz bar in Denton, TX with ME. Wow. Who is Sarah Reddington? We are "the loudest folk band of all time". This sort of goes with how Big Gray was "the self-proclaimed most exciting new band in America." hah!

Here's us:

We're a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, and a little bit noise. yay!
Here's us in action, complete with my slowly but surely receding hairline. (Picture taken by brian)
